Hemp products with CBD - a mega trend

Hemp products with CBD - a mega trend

The cannabis plant: There is probably no one who does not know it. But it is usually associated with drugs - more specifically with cannabis and marijuana. This plant can do much more and that is CBD. This active ingredient is also obtained from the cannabis plant and contains valuable vitamins, trace elements and ingredients. The awareness of CBD has continued to increase in recent years and is now used in various products such as CBD oil and CBD capsules .

CBD has no psychoactive effects, meaning that someone using CBD will not experience an intoxicating effect. But the active ingredient has a relaxing, anti-inflammatory and analgesic effect and is therefore often used to support painkillers and sleeping pills.

But what is CBD and why have CBD products become a mega trend?

What is CBD - the facts

CBD is short for cannabidiol and is one of 113 known cannabinoids. These are contained in the female hemp plant and occur in different concentrations and in various carbon compounds as acids. The precursor of CBD, the CBD carboxylic acid CBDa, is obtained from the flowers and leaves of the hemp plant. A gentle extraction process such as CO2 or ultrasound converts it into CBD.

In contrast to the well-known and not over-the-counter cannabinoid THC, CBD is not psychoactive or intoxicating. Therefore, the CBD product is legal in Germany.

But even with a product like CBD, supply is driven by demand. Cannabidiol is now offered in different forms and versions, mostly from specialist suppliers. At the same time, the CBD products are also available in pharmacies, drugstores and health food stores. The selection of high-quality products with CBD ranges from oils, drops and capsules to cosmetics and even pet food. Even CBD tea and coffee is now offered.

Is CBD a natural all-rounder or just hype?

CBD oils in particular are particularly popular. These are taken through the mucous membranes and studies show that many consumers use CBD products when they are nervous or suffering from stress. Some users state that just a few drops under the tongue are enough to increase personal well-being.

As far as dosage and frequency of intake are concerned, this varies from user to user. So far there is no precise information on a uniform application - but there is also no solid evidence to prove the effect of CBD medically.

Are there problems with the CBD products?

The CBD oils that are often offered for sale are not officially legal for consumption. As a new type of food (novel food), products containing CBD must undergo an EU test. This is a process that no manufacturer has ever successfully completed.

The manufacturers are therefore looking for other ways so that they can avoid legal consequences and sell their products. Therefore, CBD oils are increasingly referred to as "aroma oils" and in small letters on the back there is a lettering that says "Not for consumption". In this way, such products escape regular controls and at the same time the manufacturers are not liable for possible consequences or side effects.

CBD oil or CBD capsules - who is ahead

Typically, CBD oil comes in a dark-colored bottle and is mixed with a pure carrier oil, which is pure hemp oil. The premium extracts have a pleasantly mild taste, while the conventional oils have a stronger hemp note. This means that the taste is not for everyone. Thus, it is simply not possible to take CBD in liquid form.

But it should be noted that CBD oil can be much more effective. Because the individual drops are placed under the tongue and absorb through the mucous membranes. As a result, the ingredients go directly into the bloodstream and to the receptors they are supposed to attach to. Of course, CBD oil can also be ingested with food or diluted with water, but then the quick and direct effect is missing. The result is that the effect is delayed and diminished. The reason for this is simple: together with the food components, the oil is distributed and decomposed in the gastrointestinal tract. Therefore, it takes time for the CBD to be absorbed in the right places. Another problem is that much of the CBD even remains in the intestines and is digested there with food.

CBD is not only available in oil form, but also as a capsule. The CBD capsules are a tasteless, practical dosage form for cannabidiol. The high-quality CBD extract is in oily form or CBD mixed with hemp leaf powder in powder form. CBD capsules are a good alternative, especially if you know the amount of cannabidiol consumed. In this case, the capsules represent a simple and uncomplicated way to take CBD.

CBD – by no means just a trend

CBD oils are on everyone's lips, and for good reason. Many people cannot imagine everyday life without CBD. And indeed, cannabidiol is fascinating. Because the effect unfolds via the body's own endocannabinoid system, which can have a wide range of effects on well-being. Be it for relaxation, regeneration or other minor everyday ailments: CBD products are the perfect companion for a life in beneficial balance.
